As part of the the CSFN’s relationship with Cook County the County has recently received a grant of $1.8M from the State of Illinois as part of the Connect Illinois broadband expansion initiative.  Additionally, the County has received ARPA funds to fund build beyond the initial State Grant. This initial phase of construction is set to commence in the spring.

Cook County supports sustainable action to advance digital equity. Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle has tasked Offices Under the President to advance digital equity in three areas: digital infrastructure, digital proficiency, and digital accessibility. All three areas are equal priorities for Cook County. Together, all three are the only way communities can move across the digital divide.  The CSFN network is a key way that the County can enhance the expansion of broadband in the Chicago South Suburbs.
