Urbancom.net operates a fixed wireless microwave network linked with licensed microwave and fiber optic between its towers. This network allows us to provide a secure and redundant network to our business customers. Unlike all the other phone or internet carriers who rely on the phone company fiber and cable to provide last mile service to customer locations our connection of fixed wireless microwave creates an alternate means of ingress to your facility. We provide a level of redundancy not available through traditional wire line or cable carriers who have a single point of failure on the local exchange network or in the underground facilities that enter your building.
Our last mile solution is deployed with our fifth generation of technology. Our 5G WiMAX radios use spectrum licensed by the FCC to reduce interference and provide our customers a Quality of Service (QOS) to deliver prioritization to voice traffic to optimize the delivery of traffic to the customer and provide our customers with service level agreements unmatched by others.
Urbancom.net offers several speed levels of 5G WiMax Fixed Wireless Microwave. All our speeds which are symmetrical offerings are guaranteed speeds, not just a best effort of up to those speeds like other carriers offer.

| What is the process in which our location is set up with a wireless Internet connection? Once you sign up, we enter your information into our database and assign you an IP or a block of IP's, depending on your needs. Once that is complete, one of our technicians will set up an appointment to come out and install the wireless equipment and configure your computer / network to work with the wireless routing system. How long will the setup take? 1-3 days, depending on the install schedule, and your location. |
| How much does the equipment cost? You use our equipment free of charge as long as you are being serviced by Urbancom.net wireless. Customers may pay a one-time installation charge. Business users may require extra equipment fees to connect their network. If you decide to terminate your service, the equipment must be returned. What does the radio and antenna look like and where is it mounted? Because our microwave technology uses line of sight to our towers, it should be mounted on the uppermost part of your roof to receive a clear signal. In most cases, it is simply mounted near the apex of your roof. |
| Can my condo or homeowners association or local government prevent me from installing the antenna? In most cases NO. If you live in a townhome or have a community association and have "exclusive use of your property", you can install the antenna anywhere that is necessary to receive a signal. That includes the top of your roof with a 12' mast. In a condo association or apartment, you can install it on a balcony or other area of which you have exclusive use. If you have any concerns or problems with your association or landlord, please give us a call and we will advise them of your legal rights with respect to access. Is my Internet connection secure across your transmitters? Urbancom.net uses secure spread spectrum hopping technology, which changes its frequency 40 times per second. This technology makes it virtually impossible to intercept a signal, unlike other technologies like cable, that allow your next door neighbor to scan your data as it is transmitted. |
| Do I need a firewall? Yes. Although our connection prevents outside intrusion, Urbancom.net suggests that all users have a firewall in place to protect their computers from corrupt files transmitted over the Internet. Since our technology is always connected to the Internet, Urbancom.net offers hardware firewall options starting at $79 to protect your network. Is there a minimum service contract time frame? In most cases, we ask you to sign a one year agreement; however, we will also work with you to provide a guaranteed price for a longer term. |
| What other ISP services come with your Internet access? Residential users get 6 email addresses for family member use, and 10 megs of personal non-commercial webspace. Business users receive 10 email addresses. Is there a guaranteed uptime? Yes. We guarantee that your circuit will be up 99.99% of the time. We provide a best in class SLA. Does weather cause any problems with the service? No, because we use 2.4 GHz, 3.65 Ghz and 5.8 GHz frequency spectrum, "rainfade", a phenomenon which interrupts satellite signals that operate at much higher frequencies of 12 Ghz and does not affect our signal. |
