  • Requirements:
    • Excellent verbal, written and telephone communication skills
    • Familiarity with IP networking principles
    • Ability to read and understand HTML
    • Prior help desk experience preferred
    • Prior ISP experience preferred
    • Ability to provide after-hours support 24/7 during specified on-call weeks
    • Bachelors degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Science, or equivalent
    • Cisco CCNA/CCNP or greater or equivalent experience preferred
    • Experience with Ciena or other optical Metro Ethernet network hardware
  • Responsibilities:
    • Provide technical support to governmental, commercial and residential customers

NETWORK FIELD INSTALLER/TECHNICIAN

  • Responsibilities:
    • Installation of residential and commercial wireless networks, both independently and as part of a larger team
    • Assist tower climbers with maintenance and construction projects
    • Work safely and efficiently from a ladder and/or rooftop
    • Terminate transmission lines including twisted-pair and coaxial cables
    • Install cabling, mounts and radios neatly and in accordance with all local building codes
    • Weatherproof cabling and outdoor radio equipment
    • Troubleshoot wireless and wired network connectivity problems
    • Configuration and troubleshooting of small office / home network services including wifi, DHCP, NAT, firewalls and port forwarding
    • Install and configure voice-over-internet-protocol (VOIP) endpoints
    • Perform advanced bench testing & repair of wireless radios and network equipment
    • Document, maintain, and order stock as needed
    • Install and configure IP-based video cameras
    • Install antenna, radios, and run cable for both residential and commercial installations in high places (on poles and roofs) as well as confined spaces and contend with seasonal elements during outdoor installations.
    • Clean, maintain and stock vehicle with equipment
    • Properly operate and maintain installation tools and equipment
    • Perform any other duties as requested by supervisor in order to achieve departmental goals and objectives
    • Willingness to be trained to install microwave radios on communications towers (may require ability to climb towers from 150’ to 350’)
  • Requirements:
    • Ability to use basic cable installation tools and hand tools
    • Experience installing residential / commercial satellite and/or microwave radio equipment
    • Availability for night/weekend work as needed
    • Professional appearance and an ability to communicate directly with customers
    • Working knowledge of computers and network technologies
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
    • Ability to interact with customers and co-workers; ability to communicate verbally
  • Knowledge of and experience with :

      • Climbing and installing equipment on towers and rooftops at heights of up to 350 feet

      • Installation of basic wireless hardware including hangers, angle adapters, cable trays and grounding equipment
      • Termination of transmission lines including twisted-pair and coaxial cables
      • Weatherproof cabling and outdoor radio equipment
      • Ensure that all personnel are in compliance with safety best practices, including 100% tie-off requirements for tower work
